--- ## Description The Russell Sage Foundation’s Summer Institutes are immersive, one-to-two-week programs designed for doctoral students and early-career scholars in the social sciences. These institutes provide in-depth exposure to specialized topics such as behavioral economics, computational social science, migration research methods, social science genomics, and more. Programs feature lectures, workshops, and collaborative projects led by leading scholars, with the goal of fostering advanced research skills, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the development of innovative ideas. Participants are expected to fully attend all sessions; some institutes require preparatory assignments. Most participant costs, including housing and most meals, are covered, and travel expenses are reimbursed up to a set cap. --- ## Due Dates - March 20, 2026: Deadline to create a Fluxx account (must be done no later than this date) - March 27, 2026: Complete application submission deadline (including all letters of recommendation) All application materials, including letters of recommendation, must be received by the March 27 deadline. --- ## Funding Amount - Most participant costs (housing and most meals) are fully covered by the foundation. - Travel expenses are reimbursed up to a set cap based on the participant’s location. If travel costs exceed the cap and would cause financial hardship, participants may contact the organizers to discuss. - No direct stipend or salary is provided; this is a training opportunity rather than a research grant. --- ## Eligibility - Open to: - Doctoral (Ph.D.) students who will have completed at least one year of their program by July 2026. - Postdoctoral researchers and faculty who earned their Ph.D. since May 2024 (within one year). - Candidates from economics and related disciplines (e.g., psychology, business, political science, law, public policy) with advanced training in economics are welcome. - No restrictions based on citizenship, country of study, or country of employment. - For certain institutes, additional eligibility criteria may apply—review the specific program page for details. --- ## Application Process 1. **Review Institute Offerings:** Determine which Summer Institute(s) you are eligible for by visiting the [Summer Institutes overview page](https://www.russellsage.org/apply/summer-institutes). 2. **Create a Fluxx Account:** Register on the [Fluxx online application portal](https://rsf.fluxx.io/user_sessions/new) no later than March 20, 2026. Account activation may take up to 5 business days. 3. **Complete the Application:** Start a new "Summer Institute" application for your chosen program.
