--- ## Description The Russell Sage Foundation's Summer Institutes are immersive, one- to two-week residential programs designed to train doctoral students and early-career scholars in emerging and impactful areas of social science research. Institutes cover topics such as behavioral economics, biological approaches in the social sciences, computational social science, migration research methods, proposal development, social science genomics, and social science for journalists. Programs are led by distinguished faculty and feature a mix of expert-led sessions, hands-on activities, and opportunities for networking and collaboration. Most costs for participants—including housing, most meals, and a travel stipend—are covered. --- ## Due Dates - **March 20, 2026:** Deadline to create a Fluxx account (required before application) - **March 27, 2026:** Complete application (including letters of recommendation) submission deadline Applicants will be notified of decisions by April 8, 2026. --- ## Funding Amount - **Participant Support:** Most costs during the institute—including housing and most meals—are covered. - **Travel:** Capped travel stipend provided, based on the location of your doctoral program; typically covers most, but not all, travel expenses. If travel costs in excess of the stipend would cause hardship, contact the organizers. - **No direct stipend or salary** is provided outside of covered costs and travel reimbursement. --- ## Eligibility - **Who Can Apply:** - Ph.D. students (must have completed at least one year of their program by July 2026) - Postdoctoral researchers and faculty who earned their Ph.D. since May 2024 (within one year of the program) - **Fields:** Economics, psychology, business administration, public policy, and related disciplines with advanced training in economics - **No citizenship or country restrictions** (open internationally) - **Additional Requirements:** Full attendance for the program duration and completion of assigned readings in advance --- ## Application Process 1. **Create a Fluxx account** via the [RSF online portal](https://rsf.fluxx.io/user_sessions/new) no later than March 20, 2026 (account activation may take up to 5 business days). 2. **Start a new “Summer Institute” application** in Fluxx and select your topic (e.g., Behavioral Economics). 3. **Submit required materials via Fluxx:** - CV (max 5 pages) - Statement of interest (max 3 pages) describing your interest in the institute’s topic and relevant research - Two letters of recommendation from faculty advisors (submitted separately via Fluxx) - Ph.D. transcripts (unofficial copy; Ph.D. applicants only) 4. **Complete application (including letters) must be received by March 27, 2026.** 5.
