Description
The Summer Intern Scholarship is designed to introduce first and second year medical students from North American medical schools to the field of cardiothoracic surgery through an immersive, eight-week summer placement within a department led by a member of the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS). Recipients receive a $2,500 stipend to support living expenses during their internship, which includes both laboratory and clinical exposure. The program aims to foster early career interest and mentorship in cardiothoracic surgery, with additional recognition available through the Scanlan Family Summer Intern Scholarship for two outstanding applicants.
