Description
The SIR Foundation Summer Medical Internship Program introduces medical students to interventional radiology (IR) research and medical device development through mentored summer projects. It aims to foster an interest in research and build a fundamental understanding of research methods in vascular and interventional radiology. Students work with an interventional radiologist research mentor in an academic setting or a corporate research and development mentor.
The program seeks highly motivated students with proven academic success and strong potential for an IR career. All medical students are encouraged to apply, with a preference for first- and second-year students. One student is selected for each funded internship opportunity. Academic placements last eight weeks, while corporate placements may last eight to twelve weeks; both require at least 40 hours per week.
