Description
The Vermont Department of Libraries offers annual, non-competitive Summer Programming Grants as part of the statewide Summer Reading Program. Open to all Vermont public libraries, the grants support a wide array of summer activities and performances for children, teens, and families. The broader Summer Reading Program fosters a love of reading, introduces young readers to new books and authors, and helps prevent the loss of reading skills during summer months.
The Department encourages libraries to purchase locally sourced materials, products, and food, and to choose eco-friendly and sustainable options whenever possible. For the 2026 cycle, recipients were strongly encouraged to support programming commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
