Description
This opportunity enables U.S. scholars, professionals, and community college faculty to participate in the groundbreaking Iceland Deep Drilling Project (IDDP-3), focused on superhot and supercritical geothermal systems at depths of 3–4 km and temperatures around 400°C. Participants will collaborate with Reykjavík Energy and other partners, contributing to research and professional projects in fields such as geology, engineering, computer science, and materials science. The program aims to foster international scientific exchange, support the development of advanced geothermal technologies, and strengthen U.S.-Icelandic collaboration in high-temperature drilling, corrosion-resistant materials, reservoir monitoring, and subsurface characterization.
