Description
Western Michigan University’s Support for Faculty Scholars Award (SFSA) advances the university’s research mission by supporting research and creative activities that may not lead to external funding but enhance and sustain the scholarly reputation of WMU and its faculty. It supports the organizational phases of establishing projects, exploration of new research or creative areas, dissemination of original scholarship or work, and associated professional collaborations.
The program prioritizes original and significant disciplinary contributions, timely dissemination of findings or creative products, and work that strengthens faculty and university reputations. The Research Policies Council oversees the program and assesses its outcomes, while an Office of Research and Innovation coordinator administers award activity. A council screening subcommittee reviews proposals for merit and contribution to scholarship.
