Summary: Supports overseas publishers to translate and publish Japanese works, broadening access to Japanese culture and literature.
This program offers partial financial support to overseas publishers for the translation and publication of works originally written in Japanese. Its primary aim is to promote a deeper understanding of Japanese culture worldwide by making Japanese literature, humanities, social sciences, and arts accessible in other languages. The grant covers a portion of translation and publication costs, including translator fees, paper, typesetting, printing, and binding. Preference is given to direct translations from Japanese, influential works, first-time translations in a country, and works by authors not previously translated. E-book projects are also eligible, provided they meet the program's requirements.
