Description
Good Roots Grants from the Alabama Power Foundation support Alabama cities, towns, schools, universities, and nonprofits in planting trees and undertaking community beautification projects. The program invests in welcoming shared spaces, including tree-lined streets, green spaces, and shaded parks, with the goal of bringing people outside, drawing neighbors together, and making communities more vibrant.
Environmental quality and active community involvement are central priorities. Projects must help maintain and enhance the local environment while encouraging residents to participate. For projects involving trees, the program emphasizes planting according to recognized arboriculture standards and demonstrating a long-term care plan, connecting improvements to community green spaces with the ongoing care needed to sustain them.
