Description
The Supportive Housing Program (SHP) is part of the South Carolina Housing Trust Fund, administered by SC Housing. It supports development of affordable rental housing for individuals and families with complex housing needs, including people with disabilities and people experiencing homelessness. Housing may include temporary shelter, transitional housing, or group homes.
SHP pairs housing with access to voluntary support services intended to help residents live independently in the community and improve their quality of life. A supportive housing application must explain how units will remain affordable to the identified population and how services will be provided throughout the 20-year affordability period. The Trust Fund’s broader purpose is to develop and preserve safe, affordable housing for low- and very low-income households in South Carolina.
