Description
The Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) Program provides flexible federal funding for transportation infrastructure in Kansas. It supports work to preserve and improve the condition and performance of federal-aid highways, construct or rehabilitate bridges and tunnels on public roads, build pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, and deliver transit capital projects.
The Federal Highway Administration provides the funds, while the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) or a local Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) selects projects. STBG funding is limited to the construction and construction engineering (inspection) phases.
