Description
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) presents the Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) – Rural as capital assistance for road and transit projects in rural areas. Projects are selected locally, allowing communities to direct funding toward their transportation needs. The program is among flexible federal highway funding opportunities: some highway funds can be transferred to transit projects, and some transit funds to highway projects.
Eligible transit work includes purchasing, rehabilitating or leasing buses and vans; acquiring support vehicles and equipment; constructing, improving or purchasing facilities; and installing security or surveillance systems for buses and facilities.
