Description
The Susan B. Horwitz Award Lecture in Cancer Pharmacology is a division-sponsored achievement award administered by the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET). Established by ASPET’s Division for Cancer Pharmacology, it recognizes excellent original research by established investigators in cancer pharmacology. Its purpose is to honor scientific contributions in this specialty rather than fund a proposed research project.
The award is named in honor of Dr. Susan Band Horwitz, a pioneer in understanding the mechanisms of action of cancer chemotherapy drugs. Many of those drugs have been and remain mainstays of cancer therapy, and her work has changed the nature of cancer treatment. The award is part of ASPET’s broader division-sponsored program recognizing excellence in particular areas of pharmacology.
