Description
Sustainable Future is a Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust (JRCT) programme supporting charitable work towards a cleaner, fairer, low-carbon society that does not prioritise consumer culture and economic growth above all else. It addresses the unequal impacts of climate change and unsustainable resource use, recognising that technology alone cannot solve these problems.
Its three priorities are better economics, beyond consumerism, and new voices. Supported work includes placing well-being and sustainability at the heart of public policy, changing business and investor behaviour, exploring purpose-led business models, and challenging fossil-fuel investment or subsidies. The programme also backs large-scale shifts towards sustainable lifestyles and movements that give marginalised groups and young activists a voice in environmental and economic justice.
