    Description

This initiative, part of the Scialog series, aims to catalyze innovative, high-risk research at the intersection of chemistry, materials science, geology, ecology, engineering, and energy systems modeling. The program brings together approximately 50 early-career scientists to form new cross-disciplinary teams and develop proposals addressing fundamental challenges in the sustainable acquisition, design, manufacture, and recycling of materials—especially those critical to clean energy technologies. The focus is on projects that promote environmental stewardship and decarbonization, with an emphasis on basic science that supports the full lifecycle of materials and enables a transition to a sustainable, low-carbon energy system.
