    Description

Administered by Sociologists for Women in Society (SWS), this scholarship supports sociologically relevant dissertation work addressing the concerns of women of color in the United States and abroad. It focuses on women and non-binary scholars of color from underrepresented or marginalized groups who are moving from completed research into dissertation writing and completion.

The program has two central goals: supporting scholarship on issues facing women of color domestically, internationally, or transnationally, and increasing the networks and participation of students and professionals of color in SWS and other professional spaces. Established in February 2007 as the Women of Color Dissertation Scholarship, it was renamed in 2010 to honor SWS members Esther Ngan-ling Chow and Mareyjoyce Green.
