The Sydney Anderson Travel Award is administered by the American Museum of Natural History’s Richard Gilder Graduate School (RGGS). Made possible by a gift from Curator Emeritus Sydney Anderson (1927–2018) and members of his family, it supports travel connected to doctoral research and professional development. The award reflects Dr. Anderson’s wish to provide special assistance for students’ academic and professional advancement.
The program supports two RGGS Comparative Biology Ph.D. students annually during the duration of the gift. Awards supplement students’ RGGS research budgets, helping cover travel for doctoral program fieldwork or attendance and presentation at a national or international conference.
