The Taiwan Intensive Summer and Semester Language Programs (TISLP) provide U.S. undergraduate and graduate students, recent graduates, and professionals with immersive Mandarin Chinese language training in Taiwan. The program features 18–20 hours per week of small group and one-on-one instruction, cultural workshops, excursions, and a weekend homestay with a local family. Participants are expected to speak Mandarin at all times and engage in nightly coursework, supporting rapid language proficiency gains and deep cultural understanding. Academic credit is awarded through Bryn Mawr College, and students benefit from on-the-ground support, insurance coverage, and access to scholarship opportunities.
