Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (APARC) offers this visiting fellowship to mid-career and senior scholars and established professionals working on contemporary Taiwan. It supports research, writing, seminar participation, and opportunities to teach a course, with a focus on issues affecting Taiwan’s economy and society and U.S.-Taiwan partnerships.
Research may address Taiwan’s economy, society, demography, environment, technology, or other areas of contemporary Taiwan studies, drawing on disciplines including the social sciences, public policy, and business. Fellows collaborate with APARC researchers, Stanford faculty, and students to examine how Taiwan can respond to economic, social, technological, environmental, and institutional adaptation in the coming decades.
