    Description

The Target Range Grant Program, administered by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries (LDWF), supports the development, expansion, and improvement of public shooting and archery ranges throughout Louisiana. The program aims to increase recreational shooting opportunities, promote responsible firearms and archery use, and provide accessible locations for citizens to practice their skills. Funding is provided through the Wildlife Restoration Program Fund, originating from federal excise taxes on firearms and archery equipment.

Eligible projects include planning, development, new construction, expansion, and rehabilitation of public target ranges, as well as ADA upgrades and environmental mitigation. Local governments, non-profits, and commercial entities can apply for funding to support both new facilities and enhancements to existing ones, provided they are open to the public and meet all program requirements.
