Description
The Targeted Research Area Grants from the American Society for Theatre Research (ASTR) are designed to foster scholarship in areas that are currently under-represented within ASTR and the broader field of theatre studies. The grant supports research projects focusing on themes such as Asian, African, Latin American, and Middle Eastern theatre, dance, and performance, as well as pre-1900 studies and other underexplored subjects. Projects involving the translation of significant theatre documents, including plays, are also eligible. The grant aims to broaden the scope of academic inquiry in theatre research and encourages recipients to submit their findings to the journal Theatre Survey and collaborate with its editors.
