Description
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) administers the Targeted Runoff Management Grant Program to reduce pollution from diffuse, or nonpoint, sources in areas with significant surface water or groundwater concerns. Grants reimburse local governments for eligible best management practices, including construction and implementation of agricultural or urban runoff controls and design undertaken as part of construction.
Large-scale agricultural projects can also support non-structural cropping practices and some staffing to plan and install practices. Depending on the category, projects implement agricultural performance standards and prohibitions or work toward pollutant-reduction goals in a total maximum daily load (TMDL). Small-scale projects are site-specific; large-scale projects address broader agricultural areas.
