    Description

Tau Beta Pi’s Fellowship Program finances a year of graduate study for members selected on merit at institutions of their choice. Adopted by the society’s 1928 Convention, the program advances engineering education and the engineering profession while giving fellows flexibility in their fields of study. Supported work need not be confined to an engineering degree, but it must enable the fellow to contribute to the profession.

Examples include law study leading to patent work focused on engineering innovations, or an M.D./Ph.D. involving biomedical instrumentation research. Selection emphasizes scholarship, leadership and service, and the promise of substantial achievement. Applicants explain their preparation and motivation for advanced study and how their career goals advance engineering. Fellows submit a report summarizing their work at the end of the fellowship year.
