Description
TeachArtsOhio is an Ohio Arts Council program that brings professional teaching artists into Ohio schools to supplement, not replace, instruction by arts educators. Teachers, administrators, and artists shape residencies around their students and schedules, from an introduction to an art form to sustained work across an academic year. The program aims to engage students in the creative process, bridge cultural differences, and develop new ways of learning through the arts.
Residencies can connect arts learning with other subjects and culminate in a performance, program, or exhibition for the school and community. Participatory professional development gives staff an opportunity to explore the artist’s discipline and apply what they learn to teaching.
