Description
The Health Resources and Services Administration’s Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education (THCGME) Program supports primary care medical and dental residency training in community-based ambulatory patient care centers. Administered by the Bureau of Health Workforce’s Division of Medicine and Dentistry, this continuation opportunity maintains filled resident full-time equivalent (FTE) positions previously funded under HRSA-23-013.
The program aims to increase the supply of primary care physicians and dentists trained in community-based settings. Supported programs prepare residents to deliver high-quality care, particularly in rural and medically vulnerable communities, and develop competencies to serve a wide range of populations. This opportunity extends eligible programs’ support for two years; it does not support new or expanded resident positions or residency program development.
