The Technical Assistance for Federal Cost-Sharing Program (TAFC) is designed to help Colorado water users—especially those with limited technical or staff capacity—access federal funding for water projects. The program provides grants to support technical and administrative activities necessary to prepare strong federal grant applications. Eligible activities include project planning, engineering, permitting, cost estimation, identifying and pursuing federal funding opportunities, grant writing, and submitting federal applications. All funded projects must align with the Colorado Water Plan and include the preparation and submission of at least one federal grant application as a required deliverable. TAFC grants cannot be used for treated water or wastewater projects.
