Description
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s Technical Assistance Grants (TAGs) help nonprofit community groups understand environmental conditions at contaminated sites and the work undertaken to remediate them. The bulk of grant funds must support an independent Licensed Site Remediation Professional (LSRP), who serves as a technical advisor to interpret and comment on site-related documents.
Technical assistance is available during the Remedial Investigation (RI) and Remedial Action (RA) phases of cleanup. Funded through the Remediation Guarantee Fund, the program operates under the Site Remediation Reform Act, N.J.A.C. 7:26C-10, and Executive Order #140. Its focus is community understanding of contamination and remediation, rather than funding the cleanup itself.
