Washington Research Foundation (WRF) Technology Commercialization grants bridge the gap between discovery research and commercial investment. They support technical development, evaluation and de-risking within Washington state research institutions, helping researchers and entrepreneurs advance novel products and services that improve health, advance technology and benefit the public. Funding predominantly focuses on life sciences and enabling technologies.
The program uses phased funding to validate commercial potential and move projects toward licensing, intellectual property generation, startup formation and follow-on investment. Initial awards support defined milestones; selected investigators who demonstrate success may be invited to seek larger awards. Early-stage technologies are welcome, but the program is not intended for basic or discovery-stage research.
