The Technology Matching Fund is part of the City of Seattle’s Digital Equity Program, supporting community-driven solutions to close the digital divide. It prioritizes access and digital equity for historically underserved, underrepresented, and most-impacted communities. Established in 1997, the program continues the legacy of Bill Wright, the Central District leader who developed Midtown Commons, an early technology access and education center.
Funding supports digital navigator services offering one-on-one or small-group assistance, digital literacy classes and workshops, devices paired with technical training or support, and internet connectivity for low-income Seattle residents. Connectivity projects may expand WiFi, Citizens Broadband Radio Service access, or other internet access. The City’s Technology Access and Adoption Study helps guide the program’s investments.
