Description
The Texas General Land Office (GLO) administers the Coastal Management Program (CMP) to improve management of coastal natural resources and sustain the Texas coast’s long-term ecological and economic productivity. Competitive grants combine National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act (GOMESA) funding. Projects must directly implement a listed priority in public access, coastal nonpoint source pollution, coastal hazards, or coastal habitat.
NOAA §306 supports research, data collection, mapping, surveys, and planning without construction or land acquisition. NOAA §306A supports engineering, design, permitting, shovel-ready small-scale construction, and acquisition. GOMESA emphasizes larger-scale construction, restoration, preservation, and acquisition; non-construction work should be large-scale and regional. Research and modeling must advance a specific Coastal Coordination Advisory Committee (CCAC) agency goal or initiative.
