Description
The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board designates eligible institutions as Texas Governor’s Schools through a competitive application process. These schools offer residential summer programs for high-achieving Texas high school students, giving them an opportunity to pursue rigorous academic study on a college or university campus.
Programs support students’ academic growth and aim to prepare the next generation of changemakers. Instruction may focus on mathematics and science, the humanities, fine arts, and/or leadership and public policy. Summer sessions typically run between late May and mid-August, with exact dates set by each school’s schedule.
