Description
The Texas Landowner Incentive Program (LIP) is run by the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department’s Wildlife and Inland Fisheries Divisions. It helps private, non-federal landowners carry out conservation work that benefits terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. Its Partners Watershed Funding Series, supported through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program, funds projects to establish, restore, or enhance habitat for state and federal trust fish, wildlife, and plant species. TPWD and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service biologists jointly manage funded projects.
Projects benefiting Endangered Species Act (ESA)-listed species and their habitats receive the greatest priority, particularly in identified priority areas. Projects elsewhere and those benefiting other trust species are also considered. The program places special emphasis on freshwater mussels of conservation concern and pollinators.
