Description
The Fund for Haywood County is administered by the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina (CFWNC) to promote charitable giving and support projects benefiting the county’s communities and residents. Established in 1994, the endowment provides a permanent charitable resource for changing local needs and opportunities. Contributions are pooled and invested, with investment proceeds supporting grants while original gifts remain intact for future generations.
The program funds charitable purposes, giving the highest consideration to requests demonstrating the greatest community benefit. Its advisory committee considers the Fund’s priorities, available resources, applicants’ capabilities, and potential community benefits. Recent supported work includes food access, services for youth with disabilities, career experiences, childcare facilities, and support for children and families affected by abuse.
