Description
The Fund for Mitchell County is administered by the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina (CFWNC) to improve local quality of life through charitable giving and projects that benefit county communities and residents. Established in 1999, the endowment provides a permanent charitable resource for changing local needs and opportunities. Contributions are pooled and invested, with investment proceeds supporting grants while original gifts remain intact.
The fund gives highest consideration to requests demonstrating the greatest community benefit. Its advisory committee considers the fund’s priorities, available resources, applicants’ capabilities, and potential benefits to the community. Recent awards have supported telehealth services, tutoring, food access, youth leadership, legal assistance, home repairs, and healthy living programs.
