Description
Administered by the American Chemical Society (ACS) through its National Awards program, this award honors significant advances in flavor chemistry, with particular emphasis on aroma. Relevant work includes identifying compounds that affect flavor perception, investigating mechanisms of aroma-flavor release, understanding the generation, formation and stability of flavor compounds, and advancing analytical techniques or instrumentation used to investigate flavor.
Supported by an endowed fund established by Thomas H. Parliment, the award recognizes independence of thought and originality. Contributions are considered through technical publications, patents, corporate or academic awards, and professional society activities. Nominations of chemists from industry, academia and government are encouraged.
