Description
The Thomas Hampson Fund, administered by the American Musicological Society (AMS), supports research and publication on classic song in all its contexts, including American and contemporary song. Established in 2009 in honor of the OPUS Campaign, it recognizes Thomas Hampson’s contributions to music as a performer, teacher, and scholar.
The fund fosters editions and scholarship alongside new and innovative technologies that promote and deepen understanding of classic song through interactive media and the Internet. Supported publication formats include articles, books, scholarly editions, and digital resources. Graduate students writing dissertations, independent scholars, and faculty may propose projects at any stage of research.
