Description
The Thomas J. Emery Memorial partners with Greater Cincinnati Foundation to fund work that enhances the lives of Greater Cincinnati residents. Its purpose encompasses social, cultural, educational, civic, and physical betterment, with an emphasis on improving conditions of environment and education. The Memorial generally supports capital and program needs and usually prefers to join other donors in supporting a specific project.
Mary M. Emery established the Memorial as a nonprofit corporation on April 20, 1925, continuing the philanthropic legacy of Mary and Thomas J. Emery. Both generously supported local cultural and educational institutions. Mary, known as “Cincinnati’s Lady Bountiful,” also provided the inspiration and capital for the model Village of Mariemont.
