Description
Mayo Clinic’s one-year General Thoracic Surgery Fellowship in Phoenix/Scottsdale, Arizona, combines advanced clinical training with clinical research in a high-volume, high-acuity setting. Run by the Division of Thoracic Surgery, the program develops surgeons, educators, and researchers through team-based care for local, regional, and international patients. Training spans diagnosis, medical treatment, surgery, and rehabilitation for chest wall, esophageal, and pulmonary conditions.
Fellows gain experience in open, minimally invasive, and robotic procedures, including transplantation. Specialized experience includes benign and malignant esophageal disease, secondary esophageal reconstruction, revisional foregut procedures, and pectus and chest wall deformities. Research participation and peer-reviewed manuscripts are encouraged, and presentations at regional and national meetings are expected.
