The International Research Foundation for English Language Education (TIRF), in partnership with the British Council, offers research mentoring awards to support new researchers in doctoral programs. Awardees develop potential dissertation research proposals with established researchers who share their professional interests. The program aims to strengthen researchers’ capabilities and support supervisors in guiding research design and development.
The partners prioritize promising doctoral students who could influence language pedagogy, research, and policy in their home countries. Proposals should have clear implications for educational policymakers and others making decisions about English language education. Research must directly concern English language education or have strong implications for it, including relationships between the spread of English and minority language endangerment.
