Description
The Tirone E. David International Fellowship, offered by the American Association for Thoracic Surgery Foundation, is designed to advance the clinical skills and professional development of international cardiac surgeons. The fellowship provides early- and mid-career cardiac surgeons—especially those from low- and middle-income countries—the opportunity to participate in a 2–4 week observational clinical fellowship at a leading North American host institution. Additionally, the program supports a 5–10 day visit by a North American cardiac surgeon-mentor to the recipient’s home institution, offering training, education, or research support.
The program aims to foster global collaboration, enhance patient care, and encourage knowledge-sharing in the field of cardiac surgery. Awardees are expected to return to their home countries to share acquired knowledge and submit a final report to the foundation.
