Description
The Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Programs administers this noncompetitive opportunity in partnership with the Governor’s Juvenile Justice Commission. Funding comes through the Indian Tribes Programs Purpose Area of the federal Title II Formula grant. It supports the Sokaogon Chippewa Community Tribe in starting or strengthening programs that prevent or address juvenile justice and delinquency issues affecting Native American and Alaska Native youth.
Projects should reflect the community’s needs and strengths. Activities may include mentoring, community-based alternatives to detention, mental health and substance use disorder services, family support and therapy, or afterschool educational, recreational, cultural, and employment activities. The commission prioritizes evidence-based and promising programs and encourages projects addressing rural youth, gender-specific services, alternatives to detention, and family strengthening.
