Description
This program provides formula-based funding to Illinois school districts and eligible nonpublic schools to increase student academic achievement through the preparation, training, and recruitment of high-quality teachers, principals, and other school leaders. Funds may be used for professional development, induction and mentoring, recruitment and retention efforts, class size reduction, and related strategies to ensure all students have access to effective educators and strong instructional leadership. The program is part of the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
