Description
This program provides formula grants to Illinois public school districts (and eligible nonpublic schools via equitable services) to enhance student achievement by supporting the professional growth, induction, and recruitment of teachers, principals, and other school leaders. Title II, Part A funds may be used for evidence-based professional development, induction and mentoring programs, recruitment and retention of effective educators, and class size reduction, with the overall goal of building a robust, high-quality educational workforce across Illinois. The program operates under the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
