Description
Title II, Part A is administered by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act. It provides funds to help schools and school districts prepare, train, and recruit high-quality teachers, principals, and other school leaders, with the goal of increasing academic achievement for all students.
Supported activities include professional development, induction and mentoring, recruiting, hiring, and retaining highly qualified teachers, and class size reduction. The program also supports state-level activities for principals and other school leaders. ISBE’s Title Grant Administration Department provides technical assistance to help districts implement programs aligned with federal guidance and ESSA. Eligible nonpublic school teachers participate through consultation and equitable services provided by participating local education agencies.
