Description
The Iowa Department of Education administers this federal Title IV, Part B program to establish or expand community learning centers during non-school hours. It supports school and community partnerships serving elementary, middle, and high school students, particularly those attending high-poverty, low-performing schools. Centers must combine academic assistance, educational enrichment, and family engagement to improve student achievement and support social, emotional, physical, and behavioral development.
Supported activities include literacy, mathematics, science and computer science, tutoring, mentoring, arts and music, language development, physical fitness, nutrition, counseling, and drug and violence prevention.
