Description
The Title XX Social Services Block Grant (SSBG) supports locally relevant social services that help communities achieve or maintain economic self-sufficiency and prevent, reduce, or eliminate dependency. Established under Title XX of the Federal Social Security Act, the program allows each state or territory to select services and determine who may receive them. Nevada allocates funding to state and non-state programs serving urban and rural communities statewide.
Nevada’s Grants Management Unit administers the program through the Director’s Office. The FY2027 Intended Use Plan includes case management, foster care, community health, homemaker services, protective services, residential mental health treatment, disability supports, and substance abuse treatment. These services also address abuse, neglect, exploitation, and inappropriate institutional care. Nonprofit funding recommendations consider community needs, state priorities, and applicants’ potential to meet SSBG goals.
