Description
The Torrey Botanical Society Graduate Student Research Fellowship supports graduate students studying plant science through annual grants for field work and related expenses. The Society offers separate awards for Master’s and Doctoral students, supporting botanical investigation across a broad range of subjects, including plant diversity, species distributions, evolutionary relationships, and responses to environmental change.
Previous funded projects have examined forest community assembly, fern richness and endemism, lichen symbiotic partnerships, and plant water use under rising carbon dioxide. Other awards have supported research on pollination, hybridization, plant physiology, invasive species, conservation, and regional floras. This breadth includes studies of individual plant traits and reproductive processes as well as biodiversity and ecological change in forests, mountains, deserts, and tropical environments.
