Description
Trainees First, run by the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR), gives interventional radiology trainees experience reviewing abstract submissions for the SIR Annual Scientific Meeting. Trainees work under the mentorship and supervision of a faculty mentor who serves as the primary reviewer. The program develops skills in peer review and critical assessment of scientific and educational content while providing insight into how a national scientific meeting program is developed.
The program emphasizes mentorship, inclusion, professional development, and engagement within the interventional radiology community. Faculty mentors oversee trainee participation, review their evaluations, provide feedback, and submit final scores and comments. This collaboration helps develop future interventional radiologists while contributing to the quality of the meeting’s scientific and educational program.
