Summary: Supports Society members learning genetic or genomic techniques through training directly relevant to their research.
Key Information: Applicants must work or study in the UK, or undertake their training in the UK.
The Genetics Society’s Training Grant helps members attend formal short courses or make collaborative visits to another laboratory to learn specific genetic or genomic techniques. Supported training includes statistics and bioinformatics, with the aim of developing skills that directly help the applicant’s research. The scheme is open across career stages, including undergraduate and graduate students, junior postdoctoral researchers, and principal or co-investigators, subject to membership and location requirements.
The award supports the practical costs of accessing training, including travel, accommodation, subsistence, and registration or tuition fees. It is intended for learning techniques rather than undertaking fieldwork. Training in a collaborator’s laboratory that is already included and budgeted for within degree funding is not supported.
