Description
SSHRC partners with international funding agencies on the fifth Trans-Atlantic Platform (T-AP) call, “Preparing for Tomorrow: Societies and Strategies in Times of Transition.” The platform connects humanities and social sciences funders, research organizations, and researchers across South America, North America, Europe, and Africa. This call supports innovative collaborative research that advances conceptual, empirical, and normative understanding of how societies envision and respond to uncertain futures.
Research should generate knowledge supporting resilient, inclusive, forward-looking strategies and informing policy and practice. The call welcomes disciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches, including qualitative, quantitative, mixed-methods, historical, and future-oriented research. It encourages stakeholder engagement, diverse teams, and early career researcher development, addressing risks and opportunities arising from societal, political, technological, and environmental change.
Proposals must address at least one theme:
- Uncertainty: sources, costs, communication, and improvement.
- Futures and crises: historical, cultural, and regional perspectives.
- Scope and coordination of response strategies.
- Normative inquiry into prevention and preparation for future crises.
