This program enables internationally recognized professors in the humanities and social sciences, currently based at US universities, to spend extended periods at German academic institutions. The initiative is focused on advancing research and fostering collaboration in the areas of the future of democracy, fundamental rights and academic freedom, or the future of transatlantic relations. Awardees maintain their US academic ties while engaging in annual residencies in Germany, promoting both scholarly and public discourse on these critical topics.
