Description
The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT), through its Office of Local Government Coordination, administers federal and state transit programs that support public transportation across Wyoming. Assistance covers operations, administration, maintenance, capital projects, and planning; individual funding programs may support more than one of these activities. WYDOT’s rural program focuses on developing, maintaining, and improving service in communities with fewer than 50,000 residents, while other programs address specialized transportation, buses and facilities, and statewide planning.
Coordination is a program priority. Projects funded under Section 5310 must be included in a locally developed Coordinated Public Transit-Human Services Transportation Plan. WYDOT also works with providers on local, regional, and statewide transit planning.
