Description
The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) offers the Transitional Work Grant Program to help employers develop plans for workers recovering from work-related injuries. Transitional work gives an injured worker with job restrictions meaningful, real job duties for a specified period, providing an interim step toward returning to their original job.
A BWC-accredited transitional work developer designs a plan tailored to the employer and its workers. Functional job analyses identify duties a worker can perform within their restrictions by documenting essential functions, physical demands, work conditions, and required knowledge and skills. The program aims to help workers remain at work or return as soon as safely possible while reducing employers’ workers’ compensation costs.
